Privacy notice for job applicants
Version 2026-10. This notice explains how AfriTech handles your personal information when you apply for a job, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
Who is responsible for your information
AfriTech (registration 2024/696781/07) is the responsible party.
Information Officer: our Information Officer, admin@ai-apps.co.za.
What we collect
- Your name, email address, mobile and WhatsApp numbers, country, province or region and town.
- Your employment status, current employer and job title, notice period, qualifications, skills and years of experience.
- Your salary expectation.
- Your CV and anything you write in the application form.
- Interview arrangements, and the interview panel's notes and scores about you.
- Technical details of your submission: date, time and IP address, kept for security.
- Only if you choose to answer: population group, gender and disability status, for Employment Equity reporting.
Why we use it
We use your information only to assess your application, arrange and run interviews, communicate with you about the process, and, if you agree, to consider you for future positions. We rely on your consent and on taking steps to enter into an employment contract at your request (POPIA section 11(1)(a) and (b)).
Employment Equity answers are special personal information. They are voluntary, stored separately from your application, never shown to the interview panel, and used only in anonymous totals for reports required by the Employment Equity Act.
We do not use automated decision-making. People review every application.
Who can see it
Only our recruitment team, the hiring manager and the members of your interview panel. Every time someone opens your CV it is logged. We do not sell your information or share it with recruiters or other companies. Our software and email providers process it on our behalf under written agreements.
Where it is kept and for how long
Your information is stored on secure servers in South Africa. We keep it for 12 months after the last activity on your application. After that it is removed from use, and shortly afterwards your CV is destroyed and your personal details are erased. If you are appointed, your information moves to your employee file under a separate notice.
Your rights
You may ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, withdraw your consent, withdraw your application, or object to how we use it. Use the link in your confirmation email, or contact the Information Officer. We will respond within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa): inforegulator.org.za.
